IPL Photo rejuvenation

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) Photo Rejuvenation

IPL is an unbeatable treatment for removal of pigmentation and for reversal of sun damage. Varying wavelengths of light can be used to successfully treat a wide range of skin treatments including fine lines, sun damage, freckles, veins, pigmentation.

A comprehensive consultation is required, where IPL is explained in full. It is important to understand the degree of downtime required for each of the processes and to have a number of patch tests done so you can see how your skin will react, feel how intense the treatment is and be sure that IPL is safe for you.

Usually we will recommend to include IPL photo rejuvenation or pigmentation treatments along with other equally powerful skin regimes in what we call SKIN3 anti-ageing to the power of three.

SKIN3 combinations include microdermabrasion, plus AHA peels, alternated with photo rejuvenation over 3 – 5 treatments, or enzyme & lactic peels in tandem for skin hydration and textural improvement, plus photo rejuvenation for increased collagen production. SKIN3, treatment plans will always include photo rejuvenation. You will achieve much more than if you undergo any one of the treatments in isolation.

Add high quality skin care regimes and you have a future skin that will be younger looking due to increased collagen production in the deeper skin layers, and fresher looking due to the skin care and resurfacing treatments. SKIN3 will make a tremendous difference to your day.

Hands, faces, necks, décolletage, chest can all be treated with great success just with IPL & even better success with SKIN3 treatment plans.

The first step is a full consultation and skin analysis, where we would also patch test to ensure IPL is safe for you. At that time we will make a recommendation on your treatment plan, the frequency of treatments and a quote.

Below is more information specifically relating to Intense Pulse Light

How does IPL photo rejuvenation work?

Specific filters are applied to the IPL treatment head - determining the wave length of light to be used on your skin. This in turn determines the depth of light penetration and the impact of the light on your skin. For example, to target pigmentation we would target a deeper level of skin penetration than for targeting capillary blood vessels, but not so deep as to target hair follicles. Wave length frequency and machine pulse settings determines how the skin will be affected.

What can be treated with IPL photo rejuvenation?

Capillary veins, freckles, pigmentation and sun damage are all successfully treated with IPL. The treatment goes to non superficial layers of skin.

How long until I notice a change?

Freckles will go dark straight after treatment and over a week continue to darken then flake off. This can usually be covered with makeup. Deeper treatment (photo rejuvenation) takes about a week to show a noticeable change and 3 weeks to fully manifest. This is due to the skin cell renewal process taking that long.

How many treatments will I need?

One treatment will make quite a difference, but we recommend a course of somewhere between 3 – 6 spaced 3 or 4 weeks apart.

Is IPL photo rejuvenation safe for everyone?

Pale skins only may be treated for IPL photo rejuvenation processes. Some medications can increase photo sensitivity, which will be discussed during your consultation. Clients must wear a full spectrum sunscreen and avoid contact with direct sunlight where possible post treatment
